About Us

Maple River Memories was launched in June of 2024 to collect, capture, and research the stories that shape our four communities. As a historically time capsule, it'll research and gather the stories of our home for the past two centuries. 

After three decades at Maple River, Jason Willis began this journey through his time with the high school yearbook and his journalism program.  From learning all the family trees to looking back on record breaking performances, this website can be used to learn the history and heritage that is Mapleton, Amboy, Good Thunder, and Minnesota Lake.

The scope of this endeavor will be truly “multimedia,” incorporating traditional website articles, social media platforms, and a YouTube Channel videos. Having launched Lura Publications in 2023 to focus on publishing needs, many of the featured stories and topics will also be published annually as a collection or specific theme in book form as well.
